ON CAMPUS ACCESS: Go to http://www.vinu.edu, click on the library icon, lower right.

OFF CAMPUS ACCESS (HOME, etc.): Log on to your MYVU account at http://myvu.vinu.edu or click on the Blackboard Library link.

Shake Library contains a wide array of fiction and nonfiction books, electronic books, music CDs, newspapers/ magazines/journals, electronic resources, online databases containing thousands of full-text searchable periodicals, updated networked computers, meeting rooms you can reserve, and Reference Librarians you can ask for help.

HOW TO FIND BOOKS:

Use WebCat, VU’s library catalog, to locate books, ebooks, DVDs, music CDs, and other items housed in Shake Library. To access WebCat, go to the VU Libraries Home Page (instructions above), click on Find Books, then VU WebCat. Use the search boxes titled Basic (try Keyword Searching) or Advanced (for more search options) to look for books or other items.

HOW TO FIND PUBLISHED MAGAZINE & PERIODICAL ARTICLES:

More than 30,000 periodicals (magazines, newspapers, journals, etc.) are available from the electronic resources available in VU’s Virtual Library. A good way to get started is to first access the VU Libraries Home Pages (instructions above), click on Find Articles, then select an electronic resource such as EBSCOhost’s Academic Search Premier (a variety of college level periodicals), Proquest (huge Social Sciences and Technical journals database) or Opposing Viewpoints (numerous articles on newsworthy topics, great for writing assignments). Most resources have easy help information.
